Sandbanks Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada

by Jennifer Ronan

Great sand beaches!

Great sand beaches!

Why travel to the Caribbean for white sand beaches?? This is the most beautiful park in Canada. It is also great for families since the waters are very shallow and sandy. Children can wade out without any danger of sharp rocks or drop-offs.

The Sandbanks Park offers great woodland camping within walking/biking distance to the beach. Electrical sites are also available a little further away.

The Ontario Park system also offers great educational and entertainment programs.
The fishing is great off the Outlet park bridge. We often catch a number of sunfish and rock bass. You won't catch supper - but the kids will be successful.

Kayaks and canoes are available to rent for a fun family outing.

WARNING: the main problem with the Sandbanks is poison ivy! This is a 'natural park' so they don't spray for this nuisance. Just be mindful of the problem and stick to the trails!
