Large Family Camping Tents Are Very Comfortable

Large family camping tents have come a long way in recent years and are a picture of comfort for family camping. Some of these camping tents are huge...yet still easy to set up. You would be amazed at what features the newer cabin tents have...I know I am!

Coleman Cabin Tents, Weathermaster Elite

Today's large family camping tents have so many comfort features you almost feel you are camping in a simple cabin rather than a cabin tent......but at the price of tent camping, which makes for very cheap family camping.

The Coleman Weathermaster Elite tent tent is large and luxurious. Its footprint of 17 x 9 feet definitely puts it in the category of large family camping tents.

This six to eight person tent (remember...it will actually sleep 3-4 comfortably....with gear!) has a spacious cabin that can be divided into one large or two smaller "inside" rooms, as well as a screen room which measures 9 feet x 6 feet. Keep in mind that the screen room has no floor to it, although you can (and should) set up your tent over a tarp anyway.

The height of the center room is 76 inches, or 6 feet 4 inches, while the lower end is 56 inches or 4 feet 8 inches...great for the kids.

Other great features of this tent:
  • This tent has a built in light in the ceiling! With a remote control to turn it on and off when you are tucked into your sleeping bag...and both a high and low setting! No more fumbling in the dark for your flashlight to find everything else you need.
  • A Cool-Air™ port (looks like a little doggy door!) helps adjust the ventilation in the tent
  • A dry line, to hang clothes or gear
  • Two doors, including the new Coleman hinged door system.
  • Roll down windows

In addition to the above, you get Coleman's standard quality features, including the built-in welcome mat, Weathertec system to keep you dry, and the tent instructions are sewn right onto the bag so you can't lose them!

This year we are going to be upgrading our own large family tent. Our well-used cabin tent is over 12 years old and is on its last legs. Even though it is usually just my husband and I in the tent, we like a lot of space...and this is one of the large family camping tents we are looking at to replace our old tent. We like Coleman gear, we like the features of this cabin tent, and we definitely like the price! We will let you know when we make our final decision!
